Flying with the kiddos

Wow travel with a 22 month old and a almost 5 yr old is rough....well the younger one makes it rough.  Yup we were that family on this trip out to DC. My little one decided a 5 hour flight was not something he wanted to participate in so 3 hours into the flight he decided to scream his head off for being locked in to his car seat.  He's just at that age where TV's, videos, iPods just don't catch his interest, nothing but suffering...and the worst part is some lady has the nerve to tell me "You need to pack more stuff to keep your kids engaged, my grandchildren fly all the time" WTF I'm in shock so my only reply is yeah well my kids fly all the time too. Go figure you think you kids are perfect so you think you have the right to express your opinion...Mehh.  In the end I don't care who the hell I annoyed, I bought tickets in the back of the plane so others can go shove it...hahaha

But our trip back Hubby took the little one and I took the big one and we had a semi peacful flight home, granted we had a lot move children on this flight too.

The baby slept so I did some sewing.

Yup that's right my little one decided that a 3+ hour nap was totally necessary and my older one decided his Bionicle (a treat my husband gave him for passing his Yellow Belt test for Tae Kwon Do) was the greatest toy to occupy his time. So with all this free time I decided that I'd attack finishing up my laundry room by adding a Box Pleated Valence to the wall.
I purchase some fabric a while back that I loved and planned on using to cover up our shoe baskets, but I never got around to it and I didn't actually like it for that purpose. But I think it will go lovely in my upstairs hallway. So my first attempt I decided I'd practice on my laundry room window.
It turned out fantastic for my first attempt, pictures will be posted once DH decides to help me mount it to the wall.
I liked it so much that I will definitely be adding it to my hallway windows.
DH will be so happy that I'm actually finishing projects =)

Dragon Tails

Well what to do on a rainy day. I'd been dying to make some dragon tails courtesy of Tatertots and Jello. They were just too darn cute and easy to make. I figure get them done now and the boys will have plenty of time to use and abuse them on each other.

What to do this weekend?

It Super Bowl weekend when means we're heading to my parents house to watch the game, but until Sunday what am I going to do? I have so many different projects running through my head but I really need to stick to one. Like finish my laundry room or pick out a color for my master bath cabinets.

If I finished my laundry room it might be adding a shelf and clothing rod on the opposite side of these Ikea cabinets I installed over the washer and dryer.

Simple enough if I can motivate the husband to help out.
Or paint the same orange cabinets that are all though the house to match the Ikea ones. This might be a good project to practice on before I attempt the Master Bath Cabinets.

The Master Bath needs touch up paint in a few spots, the cabinets need to be painted and a few accent pieces would help tie the room together. Plus the commode will also need a paint job too.

Finally I picked out this fun fabric from Fabric.com that I thought I'd use to cover up my shoe baskets under a hall table.

Oh the endless projects...I need more time =)

A Much Needed Change

The weather's been so cold and I've been spending so much time in doors I've noticed that my entire house is beige, the walls, the carpet and the tiles and its driving me nuts. Oh how beige and boring my Master Bath is. You walk in and your eye get draw to nothing.Well I've been wanting to paint yet I wasn't inspired enough to do anything, its not spa like it just beige. Well I bit the bullet two weeks ago and took a tile sample to The Colory and picked out a few sample paints to try on the walls, a green/blue, a light blue and the dark blue/grey (Benjamin Moore: Philipsburg Blue). I was torn between the light and dark blues and decided to go with my gut and had the Philipsburg Blue mixed the next week in Benjamin Moore Kitchen and Bath Paint.

So then started the adventures in painting. By the way, this isn't the first time I've painted in our home, my oldest son's room was done by me almost 2 years ago and our laundry room was painted last year.

For 6 nights after the kids have gone to bed I've taped, painted and cleaned up and started the next day. And now I'm officially done and I'm so pleased with the color, its everything I'd hope for. Now the white trim stands out and the tiles fade away. But oh dear those cabinet doors are now so orange.
Here's a sneek peak of the bathroom's neew color.

Isn't it funny how paint never comes out exactly like the sample. Oh well I just love the end result.

Bi-bim-guksu

Got home today with the kids and DH was cleaning the house, he wanted to surprise me with a clean kitchen, but too bad he looked at the wrong clock. We were home on time and not early.

So now he's rushing to finish cleaning and get dinner started. So I help out. We're doing Korean Cold noodle dish called Bi Bim Guksu.

Well he starts by asking me to get the water boiling for the noodles. Then he asks me to julienne a English cucumber. Finally how about chop up some Kim-chi.

In the end we made Bi-bim-Guksu
Feeds 2 adults 2 kids
Rice Vinegar
Sesame Oil
Sugar
Boil 2-3 bundles of buckwheat noodles (similar to soba noodles, each bundle is good for 1 adult), drain and rinse with cold water.
Julienne a 2 Carrots, English Cucumber (get a special potato peeler, for julienning, makes the job easy)
Chop up a large handful of Kimchi, or how ever spicy you like it
Ham - Rough chop it up, as much as you like.

Put the noodles, veggies and meat in a large bowl.
Add Vinegar, Oil and Sugar to taste.

I love vinegar, so I tend to ad it mildly to the batch and add additional in my own serving.

All the cook time is in the boiling of the noodles, everything else assembles fast and dinner is on the table in less the 20 minutes.

This meal is really free formed and there's no way you can mess it up.
